Bad Seed - The truth about our food
Avoid, Halt Bioengineered Food

The American Academy of Environmental Medicine has requested physicians to educate their patients, the medical community and the public to avoid genetically modified foods, and called for a moratorium on GM food.

The organization quotes several animal studies showing infertility, immune dysregulation, accelerated aging, intestinal damage and a host of other health problems from eating GM foods.

Jeffrey Smith’s book, “Genetic Roulette,” gives an excellent overall view of the problem, with 40 pages of references. He explains that the process for genetic modification bears no resemblance to hybridization or selective breeding. It involves blasting the plant’s chromosome with foreign DNA and chemicals in a crude fashion that has unknown consequences to the adjacent DNA.

In my opinion, this should be treated with the same caution as we would if alien plants were brought in from another galaxy.

The Food and Drug Administration approved GM crops over the objections of its own scientists, due to pressure from large agrochemical companies. It did not even require GM foods to be labeled as such. This results in the public being used in an experiment without their knowledge or consent.

The news media in this country are mainly silent on this issue, whereas in Europe it is widely discussed, and Europe has banned GM foods from importation.

Many people do not know that 70 percent to 90 percent of the corn and soy products in supermarkets are GM, if they are not organic or if they are not specifically labeled as non-modified.
